HTC S620
HTC S620 (Excalibur) Mobile PhoneThe HTC S620 (Excalibur) is by no means just a mobile phone, it is one of a new range of smartphones which offers much wider functionality and great services. This compact, well designed handset holds the secret to the ultimate mobile office, attractive to both the business person of today and for personal use. Whatever you need on the move, it is sure that the HTC S620 (Excalibur) can provide.
The actual layout of the handset is fairly basic, although it is completely dominated by the very large TFT display screen which has dimension of 50 mm x 37.5 mm, offering pixel resolution of 320 x 240 and supporting a combination of some 65,000 colour combinations. The handset comes in silver graphite colouring and weighs in at a slightly bulky 119 grams, but compared to the technology available in the handset, this is no big deal. The technology is supported by a 960 mAh Li-Ion battery which offers useful standby and talk time figures.
The layout of the handset is fairly standard with the 4 way navigation button located just under the display screen, and surrounded by additional function keys. The keyboard itself is a standard PC “QWERTY” keyboard, slightly adapted to take in numerical keys. The keys themselves look fair small at first glance however they are raised and curved up from the handset, and have a sufficient gap in between to avoid simple errors. The keys are surprisingly easy to use, although they may take a little getting used to if you have never owned a Samrtphone before. Various short cut keys are already pre-installed allowing you swift access to the internet and your mail box to name but two.
The phonebook offers the option to add several numbers to each contact record, as well as sort them into groups, assign image, assign ringtone etc. The exact size of the phone book is not available at present, but it is rumoured to be at least up with the current average which is about 1,000 records for similar phones of this quality. The memory capabilities are split into two to support the various software, with 64MB of RAM and 76.52MB of ROM - more than enough to store your data. If you do manage to utilise all of the memory available there is an extension port for further memory capacity.
The HTC S620 (Excalibur) supports a number of the main messaging formats including, SMS, MMS and email which allow you to send and receive sizeable files. There is also a fairly useful storage facility which allows you to store some of your more important messages - predominately aimed at the business market.
While the installed camera is a fairly average 1.3 megapiels, it does offer a variety of pixels resolutions up to 1280 x 1024. Add in the still photography and video clip options and you have a very useful facility. The video files are stored in MPEG4 and JPEG formats which are compatible to PC Windows operating systems. There are also the basic add-ons such as zoom, multi-shooter and timer options which add that little bit extra to the phone. The multi media software allows instant playback of video clips and stills, and supports MP3, MPEG4, H.263, AAC, AAC+ and e-ACC media formats.
The connectivity options associated with the HTC S620 (Excalibur) are fairly impressive with, email, GPRS/EDGE, WAP, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and PC Synchronsation all supported - every major system available. The power this type of connectivity brings ensures that you are contactable all day every day, and are able to access the internet and keep up to date with news and events.
As the HTC S620 (Excalibur) is a Smartphone, it also offers the functionality associated with Windows Mobile, which is essentially that of a PC. Task manager, PDF reader, Java applications, dictaphone, and standard timing / clock options are all available with the handset. After reviewing the services and functionality associated with the HTC S620 (Excalibur), it is easy to appreciate how much development has gone into the compact nature of the handset. Easy to hold in your hand, or store in a pocket, the HTC S620 (Excalibur) has attractions for both business and personal use and looks like being a good seller.
