Sony Ericsson K550 is the latest addition to the Sony’s Cyber Shot series. This phone belongs to the affordable range of Cyber Shot phones. This Quadband GSM handset is both stylish and affordable. Sony has given a new momentum to its sell with the introduction of these Cyber Shot Phones. Undoubtedly, Sony Cyber Shot is the leader in cameras and when it’s inbuilt in a cell, that phone becomes more desirable. K550 has a TFD 256 colors display which makes the images sharp and vibrant. This sleek phone is enabled with all the latest features like GPRS, HSCSD, EDGE, Bluetooth, USB and Infrared. But all these features are stored in a 64 MB internal memory; certainly it’s a sheer disappointment. You get RSS feed reader and HTML viewer in this phone. This is a multitasking phone sharing the legacy of the K series phones.
Now comes the USP of this phone (according to Sony) the 2 mega pixels Cyber Shot Camera. But, to our disappointment this camera wasn’t at all satisfactory. Though the phone has an autofocus, Flash and video but everything was just titular as we couldn’t find anything appealing in these features. This phone is our experiment to see whether only Cyber Shot brand can sell a phone or not.
K550 has a FM radio with RDS, Adobe Photoshop album and picture blogging. We tested the phone and were little satisfied with its 7 hours talk time. The Sony Ericsson K550 will be launched in two distinct versions. First in this series is the K550i and the second one the K550im. The Sony Ericsson K550im is an i-mode version of the mobile, which is the first i-mode phone by Sony with the Cyber Shot logo. This phone adeptly accommodates all these features in a small body which weighs mere 85 grams.
