Nokia have today announced the launch of four new phones for the Christmas period which includes the impressive Nokia 6300. Following on from the ever successful Nokia range, the 6300 series has a great deal to offer, with improved functionality and top of the range services. The dimensions of the phone are an ultra slim 106.4 mm x 43.6 mm x 11.7 mm and it weighs in at a very light 91 grams (under the important 100 gram barrier). Covering the GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900 networks , the Nokia 6300 will guarantee that you are connected where ever you are in the world.
Nokia have still resisted the pull toward clamshell phones, which in the current market is quite a breath of fresh air, as all new releases seem to be based around the popular design. With no sliding sections, the Nokia 6300 is a basic one piece phone which allows a larger than normal screen for improved viewing. The TFT screen is 2 inches wide, offering pixel resolution of some 240 x 320 and the potential for an amazing 16 million colour variations. Perfect focus and improved viewing, even in bright sun light, are guaranteed with this degree of resolution.
Among the features available is a 2 mega pixel camera, which is located on the reverse of handset. The camera offers impressive resolution of some 1600 x 1200 pixels with video and still photography facilities. There is also the option to store your favourite pictures or clips to the internal memory, which is an impressive 135MB (and there is also a memory card port if further memory is required). The battery is an improved Li-Ion 860 Mah which offers up to 348 hours standby time, and 3.5 hours talk time - which is not too bad bearing in mind the facilities available.
The Nokia 6300 offers every type of messaging format you would ever require, from SMS to MMS from Instant Messaging to Email - all are covered on this phone. Using the WAP 2.0/x.HTML you also have high speed access to the internet, allowing you to keep track of world news and events at the push of a button. The internet will also come in useful to download ring tones which can be played back via the 64 Channel Polyphonic / MP3 sound system.
Additional features on the phone include the now statutory 1,000 contact phone book, although the Nokia 6300 also allows you to store a photograph of the contact as well. You are also able to store additional information such as email address, etc giving you that one stop shop feel to this model. The phone book is very easy to access, easy to call and you can also see who is ringing you without answering. The Nokia 6300 also has a music player system which supports the MP3, MP4, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, H263 and H264 formats - just about every format you will ever require. The sound is relayed via quality speakers housed on the outside of the phone shell, which offer a great reception.
There is also a built in FM stereo radio which includes a visual radio. For those on the move but maybe between appointments there are also a number on inbuilt JAVA games, which while simple can be fairly addictive. For those users looking to transfer data between their PC and phone, the Nokia 6300 has a number of facilities including, Bluetooth (Version 2 with enhanced data rate) and a PC synchronisation package allowing you to bring your PC and mobile phone into line.
This new upgrade to the earlier Nokia models offers a stylish design which is dominated by the enlarged multi coloured front screen. The Nokia 6300 is compact and weighing in at less than 10 grams it is easy to store and transport, able to slip into a pocket or bag without you being aware. As the Christmas sales season creeps upon us, the Nokia 6300 is sure to be a popular model and looks as though it will appeal to the masses, rather than a niche market. All in all a good addition to the Christmas line up, in what looks like being a competitive market place.
