The Asus Z810 is another release for the mass market from the Asus stable of mobile phones.  The phone is a stylish black and grey clam shell design, which looks surprisingly fashionable bearing in mind the dark colours.  The dimension are an average 92 mm x 46 mm x 23.5 mm and it weighs in at 110 grams.  Set for release in November 2006 the phone supports GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900 network services, which offers a large enough array of support for network contact in most areas of the world.

While the main display is located within the inner workings of the clam shell design, there is a smaller display screen on the front of the handset which is useful for seeing income calls and messages without actually opening the phone.  The main inner display is 2 inches in diameter and offers pixel resolution of 240 x 320, supporting some 256,000 colour variations.  While not the most focused of displays, there is little variation to the quality in direct sunlight.

The Asus Z810 offers a useful array of ringtone functions, including Polyphonic, MP3, AAC, WAV and MPEG4 for that all round ringtone sound.  There is also the option to download your favourite ringtones.  Overall data transfer systems supported include USB, Bluetooth and GPRS, which are complimented by the 64MB of internal memory (together with the option to add additional memory capacity via the USB connector).

Neatly hidden away on the handset of the Asus Z810 is a modern day 2 megapixel camera which offers 1600 x 1200 pixel resolution, autofocus, flash support as well as video facility.  There is also a useful array of musical functionality which includes FM Radio, as well as a fairly unique Karaoke offering - something for those long lonely journeys. 

The Asus Z810 covers the more popular of the messaging services which include SMS, MMS and email, ensuring that you are constantly available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It is however a little disappointing that there is no browser function available with the phone.

While the design of the handset is sleek and impressive, the fact that there is no dedicated browser facility on the Asus Z810 is bound to deter some phone users.  Never the less the phone has sufficient functionality and services to appeal to the lower end of the mass market, maybe first time buyers, children’s phones or a secondary phone for personal use.  The Asus Z810 is aimed at a specific section of the market place, although whether it will make it into the higher echelons is debatable.
