Fourteen Fone Logistics staff members were made redundant on Tuesday, as the company responded to Vodafone’s decision to drop it as a distributor.

Fone Logistics MD Ian Gillespie said: ‘We have had to do it because of the Vodafone situation. We had to make some cost savings due to the fact we are not going to be a Vodafone distributor.’ He added: ‘To protect the business and protect the employees that are left, you have to make these decisions.’

Vodafone dropped Fone Logistics at the start of this month. The distributor was considering taking legal action against Vodafone to get its contract back. It was initially given three months to keep connecting Vodafone but the time was cut back to just one month.
